Abel Joseph Lormand, 87, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Nashville. Born December 14, 1937, in St. Martinville, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Mayonce Lormand and Marie Elizabeth Albert Lormand. He leaves behind a legacy marked by laughter, resilience, and service.

Over the span of 40 years, Abel built a remarkable career driving trucks, working diligently in oil fields initially and later embarking on cross-country trips. His dedication to his work was further complemented by a significant turn towards security, demonstrating his adaptability and commitment to providing for his family and community.

Abel proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and the National Guard for 2 years, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism. His dedication to service continued beyond his military tenure as he became an esteemed member of the American Legion Post 206 in White House, Tennessee, where he served as Sergeant-at-Arms and was honored with the title of Legionnaire of the Year—a testament to his exemplary contributions and commitment.

Known for his jovial spirit, Abel was a natural jokester who possessed an incredible talent for making others smile. His great sense of humor remained with him until the very end of his life. Abel never met a stranger; his daily mission was to make at least one person smile, creating bonds through laughter and kindness. Alongside his infectious personality, he enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting and needleworking, pursuits that reflected his creativity and patience.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Lorna Leah Lormand; and four infant siblings.

Abel is survived by his loving daughter, Lori (Stephen) Miller; his cherished sisters, Rose Lormand Bezett Van Hoy and Carolyn Lormand Romero; his grandsons, Jacob Paul (Shelli) Lormand and LCpl Jacen Stephen Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Jayleigh Marie Hale, Emma Watson, Tyler Watson, and Dawn Watson. They will forever carry the fond memories and the spirit of joy that he instilled in their lives.
