Agnes Gertrude Wilburn Cornwell, age 94 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was born April 2, 1923 in Smith County, TN. She is preceded in death by parents, Sam & Kate Gregory Wilburn; husband, Frank Wilson Cornwell; sisters, Mary Louise Wilburn and Gladys Piper; brothers, Woodrow, Jack and Julian Wilburn and nephew, Jackie Wilburn. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Don Thurman of Gallatin; sister-in-law, Eva Wilburn of Carthage; nine nieces and nephews; special extended family, John, Penny, Peyton and MacKenzie McMahon of Portland. Mrs. Cornwell was a member of Mace's Hill Missionary Baptist Church for 84 years. Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31st at Sanderson Funeral Home in Carthage with Brother Rickey Brooks and Brother Frankie Downs. Interment will follow in Dixon Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, December 30th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike in Gallatin, TN. Also, visitation will be Sunday, December 31st from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at Sanderson Funeral Home located at 901 Main Street North in Carthage, TN. Sis. Cornwell was a sweet and strong Christian lady. She was supportive of me in my ministry. My condolences to Katherine and the family. God bless.

Our deepest sympathies to the family for your loss of Mrs. Cornwell. She was a blessing to our family, providing comfort to us knowing that Grandma had a true friend while at GHC.
