Alvin Douglas Wood, age 93 of Gallatin, passed away April 18, 2018.
Mr. Wood was born August 31, 1924 in Eastland, TX to the late Eugene and Torksey (Cranfill) Wood. Preceded in death by his wives Shirley Evelyn Curry Wood and Willie Belle Davis Wood.
A World War II veteran, he was musically talented with the guitar and loved to play Hawaiian music. Having a long and successful career with radio stations W.T.R.O and W.A.S.L., he is credited with bringing F.M. Radio and Cable Television to Dyersburg, TN. He was member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ.
He is survived by son, Larry Alvin (Merideth) Wood, Jackson, TN.; daughter, Linda Nell Wood (Don) Meikle, Gallatin, TN.; step-son, Craig (Tresa) Davis, Dallas, TX; grandson, Art (Angela) Stroh, Ellijay, GA.; great-grandsons Tate and Liam Stroh, Ellijay, GA.
Graveside Services will be held 12 Noon on Saturday April 21, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, TN. Visitation will be held from 4PM - 6PM Friday April 20,2018 at Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Waters of Gallatin for their love and care.
