Annie Louise Stamps, age 96, of Gallatin, TN went home to the Lord on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. Louise was born in Bethpage, TN, on March 21st, 1928, to parents Clarence and Bessie Brooks.
Louise's journey was one marked by compassion and dedication. She embarked on a fruitful career that began at Genesco on the square in Gallatin. It is here where she would meet the love of her life, James. She would later go on to dedicate 19 years to General Electric, working there up until the time of her retirement. Beyond her professional achievements, Louise's true legacy lies in her community involvement. For over three decades, she dedicated herself to Homebound Ministries at First Baptist Church in Gallatin, providing solace and support to those in their time of need. Furthermore, after her retirement, she would go on to spend 32 years volunteering in the gift shop at Sumner Regional Medical Center, spreading joy and comfort to patients and visitors alike.
In her leisure time, Louise found solace in simple pleasures like cooking meals from scratch and canning vegetables. Her green thumb flourished as she tended to her garden with care, cultivating vibrant flowers that mirrored the beauty within her soul. She was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan, cheering her team on through the wins and the losses. Louise also liked to play the seamstress role for fun, she really enjoyed sewing and quilting. It was one of her favorite hobbies to do until she was no longer able.
Louise's vibrant personality touched the lives of all who knew her. Described as kind, caring, compassionate, welcoming, loyal, and trustworthy. As we bid farewell to Annie Louise Stamps, let us carry forward the light she brought into our lives and continue her legacy of compassion and service to others. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Annie Louise Stamps is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 55 years James B. Stamps, her parents Clarence and Bessie Brooks, brothers J.C. Brooks and Billy Brooks, and one grandchild Chase Bradley. Louise is survived by her son Mark (Leigh Ann) Stamps, grandson Brian Stamps, grandson Trey Cooke, and granddaughter Annie Cooke. Louise also leaves behind her two great grandchildren Leighla Post and Dawson Lott and her siblings Eva Nell Shoffner, Irene Bennett, Dorothy (John) Bandy, Glen (Carol) Brooks, Ruby Bush, Barbara Tomlinson, and Gary (Carol) Brooks. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing such a remarkable woman whose impact reverberates through the community she cherished.
All funeral services for Louise will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and then again on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The funeral service for Louise will begin promptly at 11 AM with Pastor Travis Fleming officiating the service. Interment will be held at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Located at 420 Albert Gallatin Rd., Gallatin, TN 37066.
In lieu of flowers, the family please asks that donations be made in honor of Louise to First Baptist Gallatin’s Homebound Ministries.
