Obituary

Barbara Thomas, age 88, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and savior on March 20, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Barbara was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She embodied the fruits of the spirit and was always seeking to help others. Barbara had great compassion for children, and fostered many babies and toddlers. She also nurtured many children working at a daycare.

Barbara expressed her love in her cooking and was sure to send family and guest home with their favorite desserts. She also had a green thumb, and enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Barbara and her husband, John, had wonderful adventures together, traveling all over the United States and Canada, by motorcycle.

Barbara was a woman of great faith, and member of Hartsville Pike Church of Christ for many years.

She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, and her legacy will live on in the strong values she instilled in her children.

Barbara Ann Thomas will be dearly missed by her children, John L. Thomas (Mary Linda), Tammy Morris, Jim D. Thomas, Terri Brown (Kevin); grandchildren, Adam Thomas (Bridgette), Shelby Weakley, Alanna Thompson, Will Thompson; great-grandchildren, Luke Thomas, Sophia Thomas, Layla Weakley, Jeremiah Thomas, Izzy Thomas; brothers, Don Walden (Ann), James Walden (Jonelle); and sister, Bettye Wright.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John G. Thomas; granddaughter, Carley Thompson; great-grandson, Sylar Weakly; father, Farris Walden; mother, Margaret Walden; brothers, Jack Walden, Ronnie Walden, Harry Walden; and sister, Patrica Odegard.

Visitation will take place at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, and again on Thursday, March 26, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. There will be a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, each time you do a random act of kindness think of Barbara. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

The family of Barbara Thomas would like to express a deep appreciation to Hartsville Pike Church of Christ women, for visiting Barbara in her Assisted Living home, sending cards, and keeping her in their prayers.
