Brenda Phillips Brawner

Brenda Phillips Brawner, a loving and caring woman of faith has passed away on October 27, 2023, in Gallatin, TN. She was born on July 1, 1949, in Hartsville, TN to Ottis and Dorothy Phillips. Brenda was known for her kindness and welcoming nature, always making those around her feel loved and appreciated. She lived a meaningful life filled with cherished memories and proud accomplishments.

Brenda dedicated 25 years of her career as a bookkeeper for B&C Construction Company. Her commitment and hard work were evident in every task she undertook. She was an integral part of the company's success and gained the admiration of her colleagues.

Beyond her professional achievements, Brenda had a deep love for her family. She found joy in spending quality time with them and creating lasting memories. Her husband, James "Downey" Brawner, was the love of her life whom she married on January 22nd, 1971, in Ringold, Georgia. Their marriage lasted an incredible 52 years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Brenda, known to her family as “BeBe,” had an impact that extended to her daughter Kathy (Kris) Miles and granddaughter Mia Miles. They were the light of her life and brought immense happiness to every moment they shared together. Brenda's sister Amy (Dennie) White, nephew Phillip White, brother William (Dianne) Phillips, nephew Darrell Phillips, and her husband James “Downey” Brawner, will also mourn her loss deeply. Brenda joins her parents Ottis and Dorothy Phillips and her sister Marie Phillips in heaven.

Brenda was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. She attended Liberty Baptist Church and was a current member of the United Church in Gallatin. She was also a member of the Bethpage #5 order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her dedication to family and work, Brenda had various hobbies and interests that brought her fulfillment. She enjoyed quilting beautiful patterns that showcased her creativity. With each stitch sewn into every quilt, she poured her heart into these meaningful creations. Reading also held a special place in Brenda's heart; she immersed herself in stories that transported her to different worlds. Furthermore, she loved traveling to new places which broadened her horizons and provided her with new experiences to cherish.

Pallbearers are to include Phillip White, Randy Carr, Kris Miles, Jeremiah Bennett, Jonathan Hayes, and Ike Pember. Honorary Pallbearers will include Ed Miles, James Spivey, Russell Craft, and Dennie White.

Services to honor and celebrate Brenda's life will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066. Visitation will take place on November 1, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. At 6:00 PM, the Eastern Star will be holding a service for Brenda. A second visitation will be held on November 2, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. Brenda will be laid to rest at Crestview Memory Gardens located at 1623 HWY 109 N, Gallatin, TN 37066. The interment ceremony will take place on November 2, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  Services will be presided by Brother Jonathan Hayes and Pastor Bruce Chesser

Brenda Phillips Brawner's departure has left a void in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will always be remembered for her kindheartedness and unwavering love for her family and friends. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us find solace in knowing that her spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts.
