Mrs. Charlene Leath Crowder, age 96, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026.

Born on April 9, 1930, in Bethpage, Tennessee, Charlene was the daughter of the late James Warren Leath and Mellie Brown Cox Leath. She lived a long and blessed life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Crowder; her beloved son, Gary D. Tuttle; and her brothers, Reese Leath and Roger Leath.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Larry R.) Mathews and Alice Ann Ferguson. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Tyler (Cindy) Mathews, Karyn Mathews, Hailey (Frank DiLeo) Ferguson, Joy Ferguson, Sally Ann (Greg) Pirtle, and Erin (Matt) Blackman.

Charlene was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Ethan Mathews, Anna Mathews, Taylor (Tyler) Peterson, Hallie Mathews-Kemp, Bailey Ferguson, Hayden Wright, Madelyn Pirtle, Andy Blackman, Baker Blackman, Bennett Blackman, and Norah Blackman. She was also the proud great-great-grandmother of Asher Smith, Westin Smith, and Ryleigh Grace Peterson, with another precious great-great-grandchild expected soon.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Charlene was a longtime and faithful member of Old Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Bethpage. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was evident in the kindness, generosity, and love she shared with family, friends, and all who knew her.

Charlene was a talented seamstress who could create and mend with remarkable skill. She had worked for Gary Shirt Company for 30 years when she retired as a floor supervisor.  She was also known for her excellent cooking and baking, often expressing her love through meals shared around the family table. More than anything, Charlene was a devoted mother who lovingly raised her three children and found tremendous joy in being a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Visitation will be Monday, June 29, from 12pm until 2pm at Old Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Old Hopewell Road in Bethpage. A Funeral Service officiated by Jacob Sullivan will follow at 2pm at the church. A graveside service officiated by David Manning will take place in upper portion of Bethpage Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Mathews, Tyler Mathews, Ethan Mathews, Bailey Ferguson, Warren Leath, and Billy McFarlin.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to her nurse, Melissa Wise, with HighPoint Hospice and also the staff at Rosemary Cottage.

Charlene's warmth, wisdom, faith, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the generations of family she nurtured and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and devotion.

The family rejoices in the assurance that she is now at home with her Lord and Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
