Christopher Michael Johnson

March 24, 1977 — December 7, 2025

Christopher “Michael” Johnson, age 48, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee surrounded by those who loved him. He was born on March 24, 1977, in Shelby, North Carolina. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Phyllis Johnson and Johnny Johnson; his sister, Jill Dennison, and her husband, Evan; his brother, John Alan Johnson; his nephews, Nicholas Dennison and Nolan Dennison (Emma); and, many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him immensely and provided much comfort in his final days. He cherished his family deeply and found great joy in spending time with them. Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Vant and Flora Ann Walker and Junior and Christine Johnson.

A lifelong fan of DC Comics, Michael especially adored Green Lantern and Conner Kent. His creativity knew no bounds. He loved to write and draw, often creating superhero characters inspired by people he met. If you were kind to Michael, you might soon find yourself immortalized as a hero in one of his imaginative stories.

Michael carried a deep and unwavering faith from an early age, a strength that became the foundation of his character. Throughout his life, he faced numerous challenges brought on by his illnesses - moments that would have discouraged many. Yet, despite physical setbacks, emotional strain, and periods of uncertainty, he continually drew upon his belief in something greater than himself. His faith guided his decisions, comforted him in difficult times, and inspired resilience when the path forward seemed unclear. It became not only a source of personal endurance but also a beacon for those around him, who witnessed how steadfastly he held onto hope even in the harshest seasons of his life.

Michael was an active and devoted member of Frontline Church in Gallatin, where he found a welcoming home and meaningful community.

Michael had a profound and lifelong love for South Mountain Christian Camp, where he spent many years as both a camper and a counselor. The camp and its community played a defining role in his life, shaping his faith and character in lasting ways. Michael loved to talk about his time at South Mountain and the people he met there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Mountain Christian Camp, 1129 South Mountain Rd, Bostic, NC 28018, in honor of Michael’s enduring connection to the place he loved so dearly.
