Clyde Alan Chambers passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Carthage, Tennessee. He was born on December 26, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was a graduate of Gallatin High School, Class of 1971.
Clyde was a dedicated public servant who devoted 30 years of service to the Hendersonville Fire Department, from 1985 to 2015, rising through the ranks to retire as a Captain. He joined the Tennessee Army National Guard immediately after graduating high school in 1971, and retired in 2001 with the rank of Sargent 1st Class E7 as a Motor Sargent after 30 years of service. He started at the CO B 3 109th Armory in Gallatin, TN, and finished at the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Springfield, TN. He also served as an EMT with the Volunteer Ambulance service prior to joining the Fire Department.
Beyond his professional services, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle and meet up with old classmates and retired firefighters for lunch.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Douglas Chambers and Janice Cage Chambers Scott and his wife Donna Fort Chambers.
Clyde is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Krystle) Chambers; daughter, Jennifer (Shane) Chambers Kinne; step-son, James Benjamin “Ben” (Katie) Fort; step-daughter, Brandi Ghergia; grandchildren, Aliyah Chambers, Hailey Chambers, Destiney Staggs, Nataley Staggs, Chelsey Staggs, Emma Chambers, Parker Chambers, Logan Williams, Caleb Kinney, Mia Fort, Ali Fort, Matthew Ghergia; brothers, Terry (Vickie) Chambers, Ronnie (Stephanie) Chambers; sister, Diane Chambers; and the mother of his children,Gail Bell Chambers.
Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Friday, May 15, from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment in Crestview Memory Gardens will immediately follow.
