Denise Gail Hill, born Denise Gail Craig, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Gallatin, Tennessee. She was born on September 16, 1959, in Gallatin, and remained closely connected to the community that shaped her life.

A member of the Gallatin High School Class of 1977, Denise was known for her caring nature and for the ways she shared that care with others. She formerly worked as a CNA, a role that reflected her compassion and willingness to serve. Her life was also grounded in strong Christian faith. She always kept a Bible close by, and that faith was a steady and meaningful part of who she was.

Denise found joy in simple and familiar pleasures. She loved playing bingo and crocheting, and she also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies. Among the greatest delights of her life were her grandchildren, and she was always proudly speaking of them. That love and pride will remain a lasting part of the memories she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her father Baxter Craig; mother Shelvie Jean Cooper Craig; infant son Edward Earl Ray; and brother Mark Craig.

She is survived by her son, C.J. Ray, and her daughter, Shantae Wix. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Scott Chappell, Bryan Wix, and Tyler Watson, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Also cherishing her memory is Shellie (Jacob) Lormand, her bonus daughter, whose place in Denise’s life was one of love and family.

Denise will be remembered with affection for her warm heart, her faith, her devotion to her family, and the happiness she found in the people and pastimes she loved most. Her memory will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
