Donald Carlos McCloud, lovingly known as "Donnie," passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 86. Born September 3, 1938, in Portland, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Carlos A. McCloud and Lera Mamie Clouse McCloud.
Donnie had a notable career running his family's paint stores alongside his brothers. His commitment to the family business was paralleled only by his profound love for people, which made him a beloved figure in the community. He was very intelligent and had a passion for woodworking, a skill that brought both him and those around him immense joy.
A proud veteran, Donnie served his country in the United States Air Force, demonstrating selflessness and bravery during his service.
In addition to his professional and military achievements, Donnie was a devoted family man. He took great pride in tending to his garden, nurturing his flowers, and engaged enthusiastically in yard work.
Donnie's most significant affiliation was with the Hendersonville First Baptist Church, where he was a longstanding and faithful member. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his relationships and interactions within the community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gayle McCloud; brothers Jimmy McCloud and Ronnie McCloud; and his stepdaughter Sheila Ann Davis.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory, including his wife of 24 years, Myrtice Long McCloud; nieces Darlene (Mike) Rawls, Debbie (Dana) Holloway, Vicki (Bob) Groeger, Dawn (Mike) Walker, and Kay McCloud; nephew and namesake Donnie (Mary) McCloud; and stepson Henry Bruce (Gina) Duckworth, along with stepdaughter Rebecca Jean Aldrich.
The visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, Tennessee, on Friday, July 18, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, July 19, at First Baptist Church Hendersonville beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Jerry Wooley at 11:00 AM. A burial with military graveside honors will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens.
