Mrs. Brauer was born October 29, 1932 in Sturgeon Bay, WI, daughter of the late Llewellyn and Marion Graf Burr. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Lester Brauer of Gallatin, TN; daughter, Debra Brauer Miller (Keith) of Kerrville, TX; sons, Timothy Brauer (Donna) of Hendersonville, TN, Jeffrey Brauer (Charlotte) of Hendersonville, TN and Steven Brauer (Maria "Ging") of Gallatin, TN; sisters, Dorothy Fabry (Bernie) of Green Bay, WI and Nancy Miller (Ralph) of Luxemburg, WI; grandchildren, Tara Riggins (Charlie) of Gallatin, TN and Thomas "T.J." Brauer of Hendersonville, TN.
Dora and Les were married December 29, 1951 by Father Charles Kaminski at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute, WI. Dora loved her dog Kali; enjoyed crafts including crochet and needlepoint; working crossword puzzles; collecting antique glassware; playing golf; baking in the home; planting flowers; going on cruises including Alaska, Panama Canal and Europe; was an avid Green Bay Packers football fan and a New York Yankees baseball fan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallatin, TN with Rev. Stephen Gideon as celebrant. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike in Gallatin, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Online condolences may be submitted at alexandergallatin.com. I will never forget the time I drove them to dinner downtown. He told me I was in a really sharp car but not near as sharp as his wife that was true love I have never forgot that statement and I never will. If there is ever a man that loves his wife that man did and he’s never cared to show it. I am so sorry for your loss. I am thinking about you guys at this difficult time. May God be with you.
