Faye Annette McWhirter, age 85, passed away from this earth on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023. Faye was born in Hartsville, TN, to parents, Roy and Bonnie Thurman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bonnie, her brother, Bill Thurman, her sister, Frances Tucker, and her husband Lewis Franklin McWhirter. Faye is survived by her brothers, Don and Bobby Thurman, her six children, Ronnie (Patty) Holmes, Sheila (Richard) Key, Sherry (Michael) Phillips, Connie (Tim) Link, Eddie Wayne (Mary) Holmes, and Belinda (Tom) Davis. Faye is also survived by seven grandchildren, as well as eight great grandchildren.
Faye Annette McWhirter grew up in the middle TN area, after moving around she decided to settle in the area where she knew best. She was a longtime member of the Cragfront Baptist Church. Described as a loving and affectionate mother, she liked to show her love through her cooking. It has even been said that she made an especially good sauerkraut. After her retirement, Faye enjoyed being outside. She liked tending to her garden, growing flowers and what vegetables that she could. She was a neat and tidy woman as well, who liked a clean home and kitchen. She was also very much interested in canning, she liked to can what came from her garden and the local farmers markets. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Thursday, July 6th, 2023, from 4pm until 8pm. On Friday, July 7th, 2023, visitation will be held from 9am until the start of our funeral service at 12pm. A burial will be held promptly after the services at Sumner Memory Gardens.
