Fran N. Oglesbee, of Gallatin, TN, passed away on September 15th, 2024. She was born in Cottontown, TN to the late Charles “Watt” and Buelah Nolen. Fran is also preceded in death by her brother and her sister-in-law Woodson and Ruby Nolen, and her nephew Robert Nolen. Fran is survived by her daughter Deborah Lanius (Glen Fleming), her granddaughter Penny Young (Michael), and grandson Nolen Lanius (Ashley). She also leaves behind her great grandchildren Jaden Young, Gabriel Young, Mickey Young, and Ryder Lanius.
Fran was a lifelong member of the Woodmont Baptist Church in the Green Hills areas of Nashville. She would be baptized here and would go on to bring the next generations of her family to services as well. After she was no longer able to attend services at the church, Fran enjoyed worship in her home by watching livestreamed services.
After her high school graduation, she moved to Nashville. It is here where she would get started in property management and real estate development. A profession that she excelled in. She would return to Cottontown in 1979 to take care of her mother. She would go on to open the Oglesbee’s General Store. After the sale of the business in 1985, she purchased The Hillcrest Manor, a historical home in Gallatin built in the 1830’s. Fran liked to take pride and find beauty in what life had to offer. She enjoyed gardening and spending time working outside. Her family even recalled a time when the city of Gallatin presented her with a beautification award for her yard. Fran also loved traveling. Whether it was an educational trip to see other historical homes across the country or taking her grandchildren on a Disney cruise, traveling was one of Fran’s greatest life pleasures.
Although Fran Oglesbee is gone, she is not forgotten. A visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066, on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, from 4pm until 8pm.
