Francisca Derr

Francisca Derr, age 79, of Gallatin, TN passed away on January 4, 2024. She was born on October 4, 1944, in Torrance, CA, to parents Pedro and Victoria Ortiz. Francisca's indomitable spirit and vibrant personality touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Francisca is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Victoria Ortiz, her loving husband of 27 years Samuel Earl Derr, brother Robert Ortiz, and her sister Mary Ballestero. She is survived by her son William Derr, son Samuel (Alisa) Derr, and son Brian Derr. Francisca is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Francisca was a force to be reckoned with - spunky, funny, and always quick-witted. Her transparent nature made it easy for people to connect with her. Whether it was through her signature humor or her unwavering honesty, Francisca had a way of leaving a lasting impression. She was a "straight shooter" who never minced her words, yet always managed to bring lightness to any situation.

Throughout her life, Francisca demonstrated an incredible work ethic and determination. As the proud owner and operator of “B&D Trucking” her own asphalt trucking company, she defied expectations and shattered glass ceilings in a male-dominated industry. Her tenacity inspired others around her, proving that resilience knows no boundaries.

Beyond her professional achievements, Francisca possessed a remarkable ability to keep others on their toes. Her strong opinions ensured that conversations were never dull in her presence. Yet, beneath her candid exterior lay a heart filled with compassion and love for those she held dear. Francisca was an incredibly beautiful and loving mom; the best there ever was. She would always be there for her children no matter what the circumstances, sometimes even to a fault.

To cherish the memory of this extraordinary woman, friends and family will gather for visitation at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike in Gallatin on January 14th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. These services will provide an opportunity to reflect on Francisca's remarkable life and celebrate the impact she had on those around her. After the funeral service food will be provided in the downstair lounge.

Francisca Derr, leaves behind a profound legacy. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and strong-willed personality will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her loss, let us also remember the joy, laughter, and wisdom she brought into our lives. Francisca Derr may no longer be with us in person, but her memory will live on as a beacon of inspiration. Let us honor her life by living with the same determination and zest that she exhibited every day. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
