Janice "Jan" Elaine Hughes

Janice “Jan” Elaine Hughes, age 73 of Gallatin, TN. Jan was born Christmas Day 1950, in Memphis, TN and passed away on July 4, 2024, with fireworks blasting in the air. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, J. B. and Marjorie E. Love Cody. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Linkey Hughes; sister, Debra Norton; brothers, Stephen Cody (Ann) and Dr. Jim Cody (Dixie); nephews, Cody Norton (Gracie) and James Anderson (Kellie); nieces, Angela Cody and Amanda Parson (Chris).

Jan loved being an interior decorator. She was an excellent cook and was always entertaining guests in her home. Jan was a member of the Memphis Kidney Foundation, member of Subsidium and also served as chairman on many committees. She served as the esteem chairman in 1992 for the annual Carousel of Shops. This event raises in excess of $250,000 annually benefiting Memphis Oral School for the Deaf.

Jan loved doing all kinds of things for friends and family. She always went above and beyond anyone’s expectation. She had so many God given talents. 

Celebration of Life Service will be held at Memphis Memorial Park in Memphis, TN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
