Obituary

Jim Butler, age 89, of Gallatin, entered into rest on Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to his parents, James and Mary Butler.

As a young man, Jim honorably served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Jim married the love of his life, Annette, and together they built a life centered around hard work and service to others.

Jim worked for 33 years as an information technology professional with General Foods in White Plains, New York. He was also deeply involved in his community and proudly served as an elected town official in Oradell, New Jersey, for twelve years during the mid-1970s. In addition, Jim served as president of the Lions Clubs International chapter in Oradell, where he dedicated his time to helping others and improving his community.

After moving to Gallatin, Jim spent countless hours enjoying the game of golf. A meticulous and dedicated golfer, he proudly achieved two holes-in-one during his years on the course.

Jim and Annette Butler were members of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for many years.

Jim will be remembered as a kind, considerate, and generous man whose life was marked by service, integrity, and devotion to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James “Jim” John Butler is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Annette Butler; nephew, Shawn Butler (Xiomara); and niece, Michele Stekler (Scott).

A funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church, on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM, (located 449 N. Water Ave., Gallatin, TN, 37066).

Jim Butler will be entombed in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum (340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ, 07031), on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
