John R. McMahon

John R. McMahon, a devoted husband, cherished father, and beloved grandfather, passed away on June 16, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee, at the age of 85. Born on November 20, 1939, in New York, New York, John lived a life rich with love and devotion to his family and his faith, a great Christian man.

John proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, embodying dedication both in his military service and in all facets of his life. He had an immense love for the outdoors and enjoyed nurturing his animals, reflecting the deep connection he felt with nature and all living things.

Throughout his life, John was passionate about flying and achieved the proud accomplishment of becoming a pilot. This passion was a testament to his adventurous spirit, and he often shared stories of his flights with family and friends. He built the two airplanes he flew.

He was married to his beloved wife, June McMahon, for 60 wonderful years, creating a beautiful family together. John is survived by his children, Debbie Howard (Mike), Curtis McMahon (Dawn), John McMahon (Penny), and Jason McMahon, along with his treasured grandchildren, J.J. Bynum, Derek Thompson, Tracey Carter, Jade McMahon (Bryant Fisher), Peyton McMahon, Joseph McMahon (Marta), Mackenzie McMahon, and eight adored great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Cincera.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Christine McMahon. His legacy of love, faith, and commitment to family will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, TN, on June 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service starting at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Old Brush Cemetery in Portland with military honors.
