Obituary

Joshua Nathaniel Rivera, affectionately known as Josh, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Long Beach, California. Born on December 28, 1982, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Josh's life was filled with warmth, creativity, and devotion to the people and passions that defined him.

Josh was the beloved son of Reatha and Glenn Rivera and the cherished brother of Jenna (Travis) Fleming. His family extended to his nieces Kara and Analise Fleming, and nephew Judson Fleming. He is also survived by his uncle Mark (Maria) Rivera, aunt Helaine (Bruce) Baker, uncle Coleman (Vikki) Reed, and cousins Gus (Windsor) Rivera, Nicole (Bryan) Koewler, Matthew Baker, Adam Baker, Coner (Skye) Reed, Cohen (Allison) Reed, and Emiley Reed. Their memories of Josh will be treasured forever.

A proud graduate of Western High School in Davie, Florida, Josh approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and heart. Music played a central role in his life—he passionately sang lead vocals in his own band, sharing his love of music with everyone fortunate enough to hear him perform.

Josh was a man of strong Christian faith, a guiding light throughout his years. His unwavering beliefs inspired all who knew him, providing a foundation of integrity, kindness, and empathy. Josh's faith was evident not only in the ways he carried himself but also in the compassion and generosity he extended to friends, family, and even four-legged companions. Those who knew Josh would tell you he didn't have a mean bone in his body.

A lover of animals, Josh especially adored his pugs, Max and Bob, who were faithful by his side. His gentle care and affection for his pets spoke volumes about his loving nature.  He was preceded in death by his 19 year old dog, Dexter.

Josh leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and faith. His spirit, humor, and kindness have left indelible marks on all who had the privilege to know him. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will be cherished always by his family, friends, and loved ones.
