Joyce Wilmadean Keene, 87, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Gallatin. Born December 29, 1938, in Dixon Springs, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Quentin Floyd Sneed and Laura Ghaston Dyer Sneed. Joyce was a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by her entrepreneurial spirit, devotion to family, and passion for the outdoors. Together with her late husband, Harold, she owned an upholstery business, where she showcased her creativity and craftsmanship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold D. Keene; son Harold D. “Doug” Keene, Jr.; sisters Betty Jo Morris and Frances Magdalene Dean; grandson Robert Keene; and her beloved chihuahua Foxy Lady.
Joyce was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Bonnie (Terry) Lyell, a caring sister to Sue Tillman, and a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren Christina (Nathan) Lee, Gordon (Jessica) Keene, and Melissa (Brandon) Farmer. She delighted in the company of her great-grandchildren, including Zach, Zoe, Aurora, Annora, Lauren, Tucker, Cameron, and Jaxon, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
An avid quilter and gardener, Joyce spent many hours outdoors, relishing the beauty of nature while feeding the birds that frequented her garden. Her love for word puzzles was just another testament to her inquisitive mind and lively spirit. Through her hobbies and interests, Joyce cultivated a rich tapestry of memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her cherished family.
As we remember Joyce, we honor her legacy of kindness and creativity. The visitation will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service officiated by Minister Michael Robertson beginning at 2:00 PM, both held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066.
