Lois A. Wright's Obituary

Lois A. Wright, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at home in Springfield, Tennessee. Born August 24, 1929, in Green County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Artist Sharp and Lillie Mae Simpson Sharp. Lois lived a life marked by family, love, and devotion.

Growing up on a farm as a child, she learned the value of hard work and sacrifice. Her love of sewing, crotchet and quilting began during this time. As a young mother she made clothing for her growing family and later worked at a sewing factory making military uniforms.

For many years, Lois owned and operated Lois's Taylor Shop in Hendersonville, where her skilled hands tailored clothes for friends, customers, and Nashville’s music entertainers. Her shop was not merely a place of business but a hub of creativity and warmth, reflecting her personal touch and commitment to excellence.

Lois loved the family gatherings where she spent time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her 8 children, she took under her wing their closest friends and loved them like her own.

A wonderful cook, she was famous for her biscuits, chocolate gravy, dumplings and jam cake.

Strong willed and spunky, she was known for her quick wit and mischievous smile.

She had a strong competitive spirit and the queen of Chinese checkers. And beware to anyone who touched her puzzles.

She loved flowers, plants and birds. She also cherished quiet moments on her back porch, spending hours watching deer, turkey, and rabbits, finding peace and comfort in the beauty of nature around her. She was also a collector of jewelry and antiques.

Beyond her professional talents, Lois was known for her love of dance, with a special fondness for line dancing. A pastime that brought her joy and connection with others.

As a woman of faith, she was looking forward to the day she went home to Jesus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Calvin Merle Carr Sr and Marion Wright; sons Calvin Merle Carr, Jr. and Danny Lee Carr; daughter Nancy Sue Castle, siblings Russell Sharp, May Delena Sharp Milby, D. Owens "Bob" Sharp, Delia Sharp, Mayme Lee Sharp Ellis, Opal Gladys Sharp Pendleton, Josephine Sharp Smith, and Leon Sharp.

Lois is survived by her children: daughters Janice Carr, Kay (Howard) Cartwright, Debbie (Denny Pickerrell) Carr, and Marlene Carr; and son Kenny (Derinda) Carr. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Her family was a central part of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

She was laid to rest in Sumner Memorial Gardens.

In remembering Lois, we honor a woman whose spirit enriched the lives of others whether through her skilled craftsmanship, her joyful dancing, or her gentle appreciation of the world around her. Her memory will remain cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.
