Lynn Ray Brown, 73, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born November 30, 1951, in Portland, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Edgar Lynn Brown and Mallie Lucille Baskerville Brown.  Lynn Ray was a remarkable man whose legacy will resonate deeply within the hearts of his family and friends.

Lynn Ray distinguished himself in his career as a mechanic, earning the reputation of being the best in the state of Tennessee. His exceptional talent for diagnosing problems with tractors and cars merely by listening to them was nothing short of remarkable. This extraordinary gift was not only a testament to his skills but also something he cherished sharing with his son, Tony, ensuring that his knowledge and passion for mechanics would live on through his family.

A graduate of Portland High School, Lynn Ray completed his studies in the class of 1969, setting the course for a life dedicated to hard work and community service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas and in Germany where he was an Army mechanic.

Lynn Ray was known for his outgoing personality; he always wore a smile and never met a stranger. His warmth and approachability endeared him to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Brown Weaver; sister Sandra Gail Baird; four nieces and one nephew.

He is survived by his loving companion, Jane Mabrey, who stood by his side for over 30 years. Lynn Ray is also survived by his son, Tony Ray Brown; and his siblings, Shirley Abrams, Patsy (Steve) Goosetree, Teresa (Bailey Wayne) England and Rickey (Debbie) Brown. Adding joy to his life were his grandchildren, Jax Ray Brown, Lukas Porter Brown, Kyle (Stevie) Phebus, and Drake Phebus; and great grandchildren Aiden Phebus, Rylan Phebus, Lilly Sumner, and Blake Sumner, who brought him immense pride and happiness.

The memorial services to honor Lynn Ray's life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 12PM and continue until 2PM, followed by a Funeral Service conducted by Pastor Jerry Ladd at 2PM.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Portland.

Lynn Ray will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever be a part of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, generosity, and unparalleled skill will continue to inspire generations to come.
