Obituary

Marian Ruth Watts peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.  Born August 25, 1932, in Columbia, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late George Leamon Andrews, Sr. and Nancy Ruth Hardison Andrews. Marian was a beloved figure in her community, known for her unwavering faith and her deep commitment to the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, where she served diligently as a secretary for over two decades. Her life was a testament to devotion, humility, and kindness.

A lady of strong faith, Marian was a longtime member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, where she not only contributed her time and talents but also touched many lives with her gentle spirit. Her dedication extended beyond the church walls, as she embraced her roles with warmth and grace.

Marian’s passions were many and reflected a life well-lived. She loved sewing, reading, and gardening, finding joy in tending to her flowers and nurturing life all around her. Traveling with her late husband, Wallace, brought her much happiness, and she cherished every moment spent exploring new places alongside him. Known for her hospitality and warmth, Marian hosted every holiday and birthday celebration at her home, ensuring that no occasion passed unnoticed or uncelebrated in the company of family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Wallace Watts; her brother George Leamon Andrews, Jr.; and her sons-in-law Stan Byrd and Bill Buren.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Valerie Byrd, Sabrina (Jeff) O'Neal, and Lorinda Buren. Marian’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Will (Becca) Wilson, Claire (Vinnie) Wilson, Ben (Sarah) O'Neal, Emily (Quinn) Cowan, Casey (Mary Ann) O'Neal, Chad (Natalie) Buren, Elizabeth Buren, and Justin Buren. Her great-grandchildren—Eleanor Wilson, Corinne Wilson, Silas Rodriguez, Gabrielle O'Neal, Samuel Cowan, John Cowan, Joseph Cowan, Francis Cowan, Marianna Cowan, Dominic Cowan, Isidore O'Neal, Jude O'Neal, Elijah O'Neal, Stella O'Neal, and Lillie Beth Buren—carry forward her memory in their daily lives.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on Saturday, June 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066. Following this, a funeral service officiated by Doyle Farris will be held at the same location from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. The interment will take place at Sumner Memorial Gardens, 420 Albert Gallatin Ave, Gallatin.

Marian will be remembered as a nurturing soul, a woman of faith, and a loving matriarch who enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and celebration of life will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
