Nancy Jo
Warren
August 18, 1933 – February 23, 2026
Nancy Jo Warren entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the age of 92. Born August 18, 1933, on Lower Walker's Creek, Goodlettsville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Allen Dilleha and Grace Alma Smith Dilleha.
Momma Jo's early life was shaped by loss when she lost her mother at a young age. This tragedy compelled her to step into a caregiving role for her younger brother, fostering her innate talent for cooking and nurturing. Throughout her life, she not only became a remarkable southern gourmet cook but also took great joy in imparting her culinary skills to family members, creating lasting memories over shared meals and traditions. She was the cherished matriarch of her family.
Her commitment to service was evident during her time at College Heights Baptist Church, where she proudly overseen the kitchen for various events, bringing her warmth and love to each gathering. Momma Jo was a woman of deep faith in her Lord and Savior, a quality that served as a guiding light for her family and friends. Her steadfast belief provided her with strength, especially following the loss of her husband, Joe Morris Warren (aka Poppa Joe), whom she cherished for 72 years until his passing on December 30, 2025. Momma Jo's faith truly exemplified resilience and grace, inspiring those who had the privilege to know her. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.
A proud member of the class of 1952 from Goodlettsville High School, Momma Jo furthered her education at Draughons Practical Business College, where she focused on bookkeeping. However, it was her nurturing spirit and sweet personality that left a lasting impression on all those who crossed her path. Known for her kindness and generosity, Momma Jo was affectionately remembered as being "sweet as sugar" with a wonderful sense of humor and held dear by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe Morris Warren; stepmother Esther Newman Dilleha; sister Temesia Harris; and brother Travis Dilleha.
She is survived by her daughter Marissa Warren; and son Rick Warren. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joseph Matthew (Jessica) Warren, Jessica Lynn Warren, Justin Morris Warren, Lydia Grace Warren, Richard Warren II, and Caroline Jane Warren. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren Eli, Braden, Kennedy, Knox, and Emery, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Her legacy will be celebrated through visitation at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin on Saturday, March 7 from 12 PM to 2 PM, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Mike McClanahan at the same location starting at 2 PM. She will be laid to rest at Sumner Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matthew Warren, Justin Warren, Knox LeLoup, Allen Satterfield, Justin Sharp and Tim McKnight. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Anthony Dallas, Richard Warren II, Scott Wettengel, Patrick Hermy, Dr. Tracy Callister, and the Women’s Sunday School Class at First Baptist Hendersonville.
Mama Jo will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she lovingly touched throughout her remarkable life. Donations can be made in her memory to A Safe Place For Animals, 905 Mallard Drive, Gallatin, TN 37066.
