Patricia Kay Dutton, born Patricia Kay Smith, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, in Gallatin, Tennessee. Born September 16, 1961, in Gallatin, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Ray Smith and Willa Dean Hyatt Smith.

She was a member of Gallatin High School's graduating class of 1979 where she played clarinet in the Pride of the Green Wave Marching Band. Patricia was formerly employed with Simpson Stong-Tie where she worked in quality control. Patricia will be remembered for the joy she found in simple pleasures and in the people she loved most. She loved playing BINGO and spending time with her family, and those moments together will remain a cherished part of her memory. She also gave generously of herself through volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Through that work, she had the opportunity to meet former President Jimmy Carter, an experience that reflected both her spirit of service and her willingness to help others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew Chris Gregory.

She is survived by her son, Derrick (Rebecca) Dutton; her sisters, Sherlin Smith and Beverly Smith; her grandchildren, Isabella Dutton and Wyatt Dutton; her niece, Cheryl (Laurent) Cros; and several great nieces and great nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, who shared in her life, her laughter, and her love of being together. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A graveside service officiated by Doyle Farris will follow on Wednesday, September 30, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Sumner Memorial Gardens, 420 Albert Gallatin Ave, Gallatin, TN 37066.

Patricia’s life was marked by family devotion, kindness, and a giving heart. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
