Peggy Kirk

In loving memory of Peggy Butler Kirk of Gallatin passed away November 6th, 2022, at the age of 92. Peggy was born on October 26th, 1930, to Robert Leslie and Emma Cornwell Butler.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by daughters Emily Kirk, Lisa (Chip) Goostree, and Kay (Jerry) Garrison, and Grandson Rick Story. Peggy is also survived by her brother Allen (Becky) Butler and sister Betty Cunningham, along with several nieces and nephews.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Kirk, who she was married to from 1950, until the time of his death in 2012. Also, her parents, sister Bonnie Mansfield, and brothers Bernice, Grady, Austin, Robert, and Joe Butler.

As a young woman Peggy worked for Bell South as a switchboard operator until her marriage in 1950. She then dedicated her life to raising her three girls, being a homemaker, and helping her husband on their farm. At times, she would also work for her local tobacco warehouses and at Sumner Regional Medical Center.

She was a strength to her family, and very loved. She will be sadly missed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and techs at Hendersonville NHC for all their support and care.

A private graveside service for the family is to be held at the Gallatin City Cemetery.
