Richard E. Simpson, age 78 of Portland, TN, passed away August 23, 2020. Mr. Simpson was born February 12, 1942 in Gallatin, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, H. B. and Edna Moody Simpson; brother, William Simpson and sister, Betty Coleman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Geneva Gregory Simpson; sons, Scott Simpson (Dana) and Mark Simpson (Frances); brothers, Glenn Simpson (Cathy), Larry Simpson and David Simpson; sisters, Carol Culbreath and Sue Dill; sister-in-law, Frances Dulworth Simpson; grandchildren, Zachary Simpson and Kaitlin Simpson; great grandchildren, Luke Hargis and Eli Simpson.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26th from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Interment will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 26th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Simpson served in the U. S. Navy. He loved fishing, camping and spending time outdoors. His special love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I am sorry to hear about Richard. I worked with him at Imperial and Geneva at Unipres. I had the privilege of serving him and Geneva at Cigna-Livingwell. He was a very sweet and kind man and loved his family very much.

Just still hard to believe. I never see him again. Richard was such a wonderful man. Strong Christian and family man. Prayers to all of you.
