Obituary

Robert James “Bob” Safford, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at his home. Born on April 27, 1961, in Florence, Alabama, he was the son of the late Harry Bradley Safford and Jean Rogers Safford.

Bob earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication and hard work. He was also a devoted parishioner of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallatin.

He found joy in many of life’s simple and lasting pleasures. Bob was an avid fan of the University of Alabama, and he especially loved spending time working in the yard, tending to his flowers, and feeding the birds. Those who knew him will remember not only the things he enjoyed, but the spirit with which he lived. Up until his last day on earth, he maintained a wonderful sense of humor, and he was loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Suzanne Quick, and brothers Tim Safford and Tommy Safford.

Bob is survived by his sons, Bobby Safford, Jack Safford, and Joey (Emma) Safford; his fiancée, Maureen Patrick; his brothers, David (Debbie) Safford, Jack Safford, Don Safford, and Mike (Dorinda) Safford; his grandsons, Luke Clinton Safford and Graham Joseph Safford; the mother of his children, Teresa Byington Safford; his brother-in-law, Reni Quick; and his sister-in-law, Martha Safford. He leaves behind family members and loved ones who will carry his memory forward with affection and gratitude, treasuring the laughter, warmth, and love he shared throughout his life.

A Memorial Mass is currently being planned.  Date/times/location will be updated to this obituary once they're known.

Bob will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
