Sharon Kay Newton, 73, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Born December 19, 1951, in Mangum, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Glen Morgan and Jessie Audrey Thompson. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend whose heart and home were always open whether she knew you or not.
Sharon was extremely artistic, and had a love of nature and hospitality. She had a special fondness for hummingbirds and deer, where together with David, they created a haven for them and welcomed them into their backyard. Her creative spirit was an essential part of her personality, evident from her artwork and ability to decorate a room, to hosting a party. Everyone loved a good celebration at the Newton house.
Throughout her life, Sharon was a conduit of God's love, bringing joy and positivity to everyone she met. Her ever-present smile and warm demeanor made her a beacon of light in her community and among her loved ones. She cherished spending time with her family, creating lasting memories that will be held dear by those she left behind.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Rick Hankison and Mary Kaye Hardy Bradley.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, David Newton; son, Daniel Newton; daughter, April (Joey) Martinez; grandchildren Kaylee (Chet), Rielly, Joseph (Jenn), Hennessey (Alex), Jacob (Abby), Savanna, Audrey, Justin (Lizzie), Wyatt, Alaycia, Megan, and Joel; great grandchildren Hudson, Ella, Hendrix, Isaac, Xander, Otto, Lilah, Arlo, and one more on the way. She also leaves behind her sister, Janet Baker; sister, Glenda (Steve) Miner; brother, Tim (Jheri) Morgan; and sisters, Susan (Jim) Wilkison and Wendy Kayne. Each of her family members carries a piece of her spirit, ensuring her legacy continues to thrive through them.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service officiated by Steve Miner from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, Tennessee, 37066. Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of Sharon's life, sharing stories and memories of a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of so many. Guests are encouraged to approach Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center by way of Tulip Poplar Road due to Gallatin's Christmas Parade taking place at noon.
As we remember Sharon, we are grateful for the time we spent with her and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy of kindness and creativity will forever inspire those who knew and loved her.
