Obituary

Thomas Carlton Blessing, of Bethpage, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on October 21, 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Orville Blessing and Ruby Louise Page Blessing.

Tommy’s professional journey was defined by his long and distinguished service at the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he worked from 1978 until his retirement in 2004. Rising through the ranks to become an assistant plant manager, he was known among his colleagues for his wonderful sense of humor, reliability, work ethic, and strong sense of responsibility.

Away from work, Tommy’s passions enriched his life and those of the people around him. When he was a little younger, he was an avid deer hunter who cherished time outdoors. An artisan at heart, he crafted his own knives and found joy in woodworking, producing pieces that reflected his attention to detail and love of craftsmanship. His pride in maintaining an immaculate lawn was apparent to all who visited his home; it was a testament to his commitment to care and excellence in everything he did.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Sally Jones and Judy Dameron, and his brother John "Bud" Blessing.

The foundation of Tommy’s life was his deep love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 56 years, Donna Blessing; his son, T. Allen (Nikki) Blessing; and his daughter, Carrie (Adam) Johnson. Thomas also leaves behind his brother, Michael (Susan) Blessing, whose support and companionship meant a great deal to him throughout their lives. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Kaitlyne (Kyle) Bowling, Madalyne Blessing, Lillie Johnson, Colleen (Damon) Wilson, and Will Blessing—as well as his great-grandson, Thomas Bowling, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 1pm til 3pm at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin.  A Celebration of Tommy's Life will follow at 3pm.

Arrangements entrusted to Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin.  (615) 502-0011  Online condolences can be left at www.AlexanderGallatin.com
