Uteva Gregory, a beloved artist, mother, and grandmother, passed away on September 26 at the age of 77.
Born in Hartsville, TN on March 2, 1947, to the late Sam Davis Johnson and Stella Ada Mercer Johnson, Uteva was a devoted family woman, supportive wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. She was always there for her family, offering unconditional love, guidance, and encouragement.
Uteva was a woman of extraordinary talent. Her passion for creativity was evident in her work as a painter, writer, and photographer. Her art captured the beauty of the world around her, reflecting her unique perspective and deep appreciation for nature and human connection.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Uteva was an avid gardener, finding solace and joy in tending to her plants and flowers. Her green thumb was a testament to her ability to nurture life.
Uteva will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through her art, her love for nature, and the beautiful memories she created.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Cemetery, with her grandsons and great-grandson serving as pallbearers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years Stephen Gregory, brothers, Thomas Johnson, Donald Elmer Johnson, and Finley Johnson; and sisters, Louise Spivey, Irene Williams, Inez Dill, Ruth Caldwell, and Joyce Robertson.
She is survived by daughters Kathy Saling (Justin) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Dianna Jones (Timothy) of Valley, AL; sons Steven Gregory and Eric Gregory of Gallatin, TN; sister, Janice Rollin (Carl) of Amo, IN; grandchildren, Amber Black (Kyle), Krystyne McComb (Alexander), Gentry Saling, Makenna Saling, Erica Jones, Jimmy Jones, Jacob Jones, Corey Woodard; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
