Wesley Lee Dillard, age 84, of Gallatin, passed away after a brief illness on August 21, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1941, to the late William James and Madge Davidson Dillard. Wesley was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marie Dillard, and his sister, Linda Wims.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise Full and Becky (Captain) Anderson; his grandson, Greg (Jennifer) Rush; and his two great-grandchildren, Kyler and Hollis Rush. He also leaves behind his sisters, Barbara Freeman, Ruth Piper, and Joyce (David) Lillard, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Above all else, Wesley was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. Family was the center of his world and the source of his greatest joy. He was a man of unwavering love, loyalty, and dedication, always putting the needs of those he cared about before his own. His marriage to Marie was a beautiful example of commitment, partnership, and enduring love.

Wesley possessed a remarkable wisdom that came from a life well lived. He never hesitated to share his knowledge, advice, or life lessons with anyone willing to listen. Whether through a conversation around the kitchen table, a story from years gone by, or simple words of encouragement, he had a unique ability to offer guidance, perspective, and comfort. Family, friends, and even strangers often found themselves drawn to his thoughtful advice and steady presence. Many will carry his lessons and memories with them for years to come.

Those who knew Wesley will remember his strength of character, his dependability, his sense of humor, and the genuine interest he took in the lives of others. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. His kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

When he wasn't spending time with family, Wesley could often be found enjoying the outdoors. He loved fishing, mowing the yard, attending to his garden and plants, and the simple joy of being surrounded by nature. He loved walking Buttons in the neighborhood and talking to everyone. He also had a passion for restoring old firearms, a hobby that reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and appreciation for history. Whether sharing stories with everyone, casting a line into the water, or carefully bringing an old piece back to life, he found fulfillment in the things he loved and the people he shared them with.

While family was always his greatest priority, Wesley also took tremendous pride in his work. Known for his dedication and determination, he retired three different times, only to find himself drawn back to work again. Staying busy came naturally to him, and he valued the relationships, purpose, and sense of accomplishment that came with a hard day's work. His commitment and perseverance served as an example to those around him throughout his life.

Though his loss leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of his family and friends, they find comfort in the countless memories he created and the legacy of love, wisdom, hard work, and devotion he leaves behind. Wesley's life was a testament to the importance of family, faithfulness, and treating others with kindness and respect. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Thursday, August 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Crestview Memory Gardens.
