Kay Scalera

Willie Ethel "Kay" Scalera, age 84, of Gallatin, TN, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Daughter of Willie Howard and Ethel Freeman Huff Burroughs, Mrs Scalera was born July 29th, 1939 in Sideview, TN. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Michael Scalera, father Willie Burroughs, mother Ethel Freeman Huff Burroughs, brother Robert Burroughs, and sisters Meda May Boyd, and Sarah Farley. Mrs. Scalera attended school in Sumner County, TN and later retired from Estee Lauder where she served as a faithful member of their quality control team. Since retiring, she lived out her passion of nannying for many of the families around her community, where she touched the lives of both the children and their families. Her favorite activity was welcoming family and friends into her home, where she would serve up her locally celebrated home cooked meals and talk with those she held close. She is survived by her brother Billy Burroughs, her sons and their wives Micheal and Bonnie Scalera, Stephen and Dorothee Scalera, Christopher and Laurie Scalera, Anthony and Jennifer Scalera, and her daughter Caroline Scalera. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael A Scalera, Vincent Scalera, Alicia Scalera, Vanessa Scalera, Benjamin Scalera, Quentin Scalera, Michael W. Scalera, Julie Scalera, Emily Scalera and Sophia Scalera, as well as her great grandchild Whitleigh Scalera. Visitation with the family is scheduled to be conducted at Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin, TN. Viewings will be held on both Sunday, April 23rd, from 2pm - 6pm and Monday, April 24th, from 12pm - 1:30pm, with the burial to follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens at 2pm
