Leo Charles “Bud” Johnston, Jr. was born June 26, 1934, in Marion, Ohio to Reverend Leo Charles Johnston and Ruth Pflueger Johnston. He passed away on December 6, 2021.
Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years Nelda Johnston; son, Matthew Charles Johnston of Nashville, TN; and a brother, Jon Johnston (Cherry) of Westlake Village, CA.
Bud graduated from Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1952. He received his MBA Degree in Pasadena, California; his Masters Degree in Denton, Texas; and his EDS Degree in Bowling Green, Kentucky. His lifetime profession was a school teacher where he taught elementary, middle, and high school as well as college in Texas and Tennessee.
He was a man with many interests. Bud loved music. He played trumpet in the high school band. He also wrote and sang music and was choir director at various churches in Texas and Tennessee.
Another of his great loves was the outdoors, animals, and the beauty of God’s creation. He spent much of his leisure time hunting and fishing. In his declining years he loved an ice cream cone and a car ride to the mountains. His countenance of happiness was great as he saw the birds, trees, ponds, deer, flowers, turkey, and everything nature had to offer.
Visitations will be Monday, December 13, 2021, from 3-7 PM at Alexander Funeral Home, and Tuesday, December 14, 2021, from 1-2 PM at Christ Church in Nashville, TN. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 2 PM at Christ Church, Nashville, TN.
